Who We Are
Our Founder & Executive Director
Andrea DeWeerdt
Family Nurse Practitioner
With over 15 years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner and a rich background in diverse healthcare settings, Andrea has long been driven by a commitment to providing holistic care and a deep compassion for people who find themselves on the margins of life. While traveling on medical mission trips to Guatemala early in her nursing career, God planted a seed in Andrea’s life that has continued to steer her toward proximity with those feeling unseen and in need of hope. As she learned more about rural health, and the socioeconomic and cultural needs of her community over the years, the seed God planted in her heart continued to grow and eventually led her toward her current position at City on a Hill Health Clinic in 2021.
Andrea grew up and resides in Hamilton, Michigan with her husband, Steve, and three boys. As both an engaged community member and health care provider, she has seen firsthand the gaps in health care experienced in Allegan County. She feels God has called and been preparing her to establish a health care resource for her neighbors that is accessible, whole-person focused, and grounded in compassion and trust. Andrea’s vision and hope is rooted in her love for Jesus, who inspires her to walk alongside those most vulnerable with humility, dignity, and grace. She understands that when health care is done well, people feel belonging in community and empowered in caring for themselves and their families. It is her hope that they will also experience the love of Jesus along the way.
Outside of her work, Andrea finds joy in outdoor adventures with her family, long coffee chats, books and meaningful music—she loves traveling and exploring new places, but feels most at home gathered around her table with good friends and good food. Her life and practice are guided by the belief that everyone deserves to be known, valued, and cared for. She considers it a privilege to truly see the hearts of others, to hold space for brokenness and beauty at the same time, and to promote healing by simply being present.
